  1.   Eligibility

The GSE Solutions Celebrate Nuclear Essay Contest (the “Contest”) is open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia who are at least 18 years of age and engaged in marketing and sales for their respective organizations.  Employees of GSE Solutions and other companies associated with the promotion of the Contest, and their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates and advertising and promotion agencies as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings, and children) and household members of each such employee are not eligible. The Contest is subject to federal, state and local laws and regulations.

  1.   Sponsor

The Contest is sponsored by GSE Solutions, located at 6940 Columbia Gateway Dr. #470, Columbia, MD 21046.

  1.   Agreement to Official Rules

Participation in the Contest constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final and binding. Winning the prize is contingent upon being compliant with these Official Rules and fulfilling all other requirements set forth herein.

  1.   Contest Period

The Contest begins on December 11, 2023 at 12:01AM EST and ends on January 17, 2024 at 11:59 PM EST (the “Contest Period”). Entries that are submitted before or after the Contest Period will be disqualified. Submissions will be accepted for the duration of the Contest. Entries submitted that are generated by script, macro, or other automated means or by means which subvert the entry process will be disqualified.

  1.   How to Enter

In order to enter the Contest, submit one or more written entries of 100 words or more describing something positive in the nuclear power industry, such as a story, experience, or insight, and a related photo (the photo optional). Entries received from any person, e-mail address, or household that do not comply with the criteria will be void. All entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.

  • Describe a real-life nuclear success story you witnessed.
  1.   Prize Drawing

Following the end of the Contest Period, ten (10) potential winners will be selected by the Sponsor judging panel from all properly submitted entries.  The Sponsor judging panel will include GSE’s leadership from across the organization and the marketing director. The Sponsor judging panel will judge each entrant on the criteria listed below. Each potential category winner shall be determined based solely on the decisions of the Sponsor judging panel.  The Sponsor will attempt to notify the potential winners via email on or about January 23, 2024, and will publicly announce the potential winners on LinkedIn on January 23, 2024. If the potential winners cannot be contacted within five (5) days after the date of the first attempt to contact him/her/them, the Sponsor judging panel may select an alternate potential winner from the remaining non-winning, eligible entries.

Criteria:

  • Submitted entries must be 100 to 500 words.
  • Entries are judged based on quality and significance.
  • There is no limit to how many people may be involved in a single entry, but only one prize will be awarded for the entry.
  • Entries must articulate something positive about nuclear power.
  • Contestants understand that the names of the winners and winning entries may be disclosed on GSE Solutions’ LinkedIn feed and on other social media and other communications outlets.
  1.   Winner Notification

The potential winners will be notified by email. The potential winner will be required to complete, electronically sign and submit an Affidavit of Eligibility within five (5) days of the date notice or attempted notice is sent, in order to claim his/her/their prize. If a potential winner cannot be contacted, or fails to submit the Affidavit of Eligibility within the required time period, the potential winner forfeits the prize. Potential winners must continue to comply with all terms and conditions of these Official Rules, and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. In the event that a potential winner is disqualified for any reason, the Sponsor judging panel may select an alternate potential winner from the remaining non-winning, eligible entries.

  1.   Prize

The contestants submitting the winning entries will receive a $50.00 Amazon gift card (or at Sponsor’s option, a prize of at least equivalent value). The prize is issued to the individual who submitted the winning entry and not to all individuals who may have contributed to the entry.  All prizes are non-transferrable.

  1.   General Conditions

In the event that the operation, security, or administration of the Contest is impaired in any way for any reason, including, but not limited to fraud, virus, bug, worm, unauthorized human intervention or other technical problem, or in the event the Contest is unable to run as planned for any other reason, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, the Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, either (a) suspend the Contest to address the impairment and then resume the Contest in a manner that best conforms to the spirit of these Official Rules or (b) terminate the Contest and, in the event of termination, award the prizes at random from among the eligible, non-suspect entries received up to the time of the impairment. The Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages (including attorney’s fees) and any other remedies from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Sponsor shall have the right to disqualify any potential winner that commits or has committed any act, which in Sponsor’s sole discretion, brings Sponsor into public scandal or ridicule, shocks or offends the community, detracts from the public image of Sponsor, or reflects unfavorably upon Sponsor.  Failure by the Sponsor to enforce any provision of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.

  1.   Release and Limitations of Liability

By participating in the Contest, entrants agree to release and hold harmless the Sponsor, and its officers, directors, employees, representatives, and agents, and the members of the judging panel (the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Contest or receipt (or non-receipt) of the prize, including, but not limited to: (a) any technical errors associated with the Contest, including lost, interrupted or unavailable Internet Service Provider (ISP), network, server, wireless service provider, or other connections, availability or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, satellite, telephone, cellular tower or cable transmissions, lines, or technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions or computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties; (b) unauthorized human (or artificial intelligence) intervention in the Contest; (c) mechanical, network, electronic, computer, human, printing or typographical errors; (d) application downloads, (e) any other errors or problems in connection with the Contest, including, without limitation, errors that may occur in the administration of the Contest, the announcement of the winner, the cancellation or postponement of the event, the incorrect downloading of the application, the processing of entries application downloads or in any Contest-related materials; or (f) injury, death, losses or damages of any kind, to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s participation in the Contest or acceptance, receipt or misuse of the prize. Entrant further agrees that in any cause of action, the Released Parties liability will be limited to the cost of entering and participating in the Contest or $100.00, whichever is less, and in no event shall the entrant be entitled to receive attorney’s fees. Released Parties are also not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by site users, tampering, hacking, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest. Entrant waives the right to claim any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages.

  1.   Disputes

Except where prohibited, each entrant agrees that any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, the Contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court located in Howard County, Maryland. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, entrants’ rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of the Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of Maryland, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules, which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than Maryland.  THE PARTIES AGREE TO WAIVE ALL RIGHTS TO A JURY TRIAL IN CONNECTION WITH ANY DISPUTE ARISING OUT OF THE CONTEST OR THESE RULES.

  1.   Privacy

Personal Information collected from entrants is subject to Sponsor’s privacy policy, available at: https://www.gses.com/gse-privacy-policy/.

  1. Special Terms
  • Contest participants acknowledge and agree that Sponsor may upload any and all entries to Sponsor’s LinkedIn feed and other social media and other communications outlets, and the entries will be available for viewing by anyone accessing these platforms. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and unfettered discretion to remove an entry if Sponsor believes removal is necessary to protect Sponsor and the Released Parties from liability and, otherwise if Sponsor believes such removal is in Sponsor’s best interest. Sponsor has no liability for any act or omission of LinkedIn or any other person or entity with respect to any posted entry.
  • Once submitted to Sponsor, Sponsor shall own the entry and all content contained therein. The Contest participant represents and warrants that it owns or holds all use rights required to incorporate the content included in the entry, including consents from any individual whose identity is disclosed in connection with the entry. The participant agrees that all ownership rights in the entry and content are permanently assigned to Sponsor or its designee, effective as of the date the entry is submitted. Sponsor has the right to require immediate removal of the entry to the extent posted or displayed by the Contest participant (or any other third party) in any medium without Sponsor’s written consent. Sponsor has a perpetual and unrestricted right and license to modify entries and display and use the entries, in whole or in part, as Sponsor determines in its sole discretion, including for purposes other than Sponsor’s LinkedIn account. The Contest participant agrees to cooperate with Sponsor in executing any documents necessary to perfect Sponsor’s rights in the entries.
  • Each Contest participant acknowledges that Sponsor may use the participants, name, likeness and information to the extent submitted with the entry for marketing and publicity purposes.
  • Contest participants will indemnify Sponsor and its employees, directors, officers, contractors and agents (the “Indemnified Parties”) and hold each of them harmless against any claim made against the Indemnified Parties to the extent arising from (i) any entry and/or the content included therein (including any claim that the entry or content infringes upon the intellectual property or privacy rights of a third party, or violates any applicable law); or (ii) any breach or violation of the terms these Official Rules or any other of Sponsor’s policies applicable to the Contest or any entry.
  • Submission of an entry is deemed a consent to receipt of marketing communications from Sponsor which participant can unsubscribe from by contacting Sponsor.
