ASME Section XI Programs

GSE Engineering, Programs & Performance group (formerly True North Consulting) is the leading provider of engineering programs and services associated with ASME Section XI programs in the nuclear industry. Our diversified staff comprises individuals who have formerly served as corporate managers, department managers, and program engineers or have been certified as Senior Reactor Operators (SROs) at both BWR and PWR nuclear stations. Our diversified organization’s overall combined extensive experience includes all areas of station design, construction, startup and operation.

GSE is uniquely positioned to provide you with the best possible engineering programs services and solutions available today. Specifically, GSE employees have diverse experience performing many ISI Program Updates, are represented on multiple ASME Section XI committees and are heavily involved with industry rule-making, including the up-and-coming Post-2000 Design Reactors.

Section XI Program
GSE Specialty Engineering Programs group has extensive experience developing, maintaining, and reviewing all forms of inspection and testing programs including Inservice Inspection (ISI), Inservice Testing (IST), Containment Inspection (CISI), System Pressure Testing (SPT), and Component Support Programs.

Ten-Year Interval ISI Updates
GSE programs engineers have extensive, recent experience performing Ten-Year Interval ISI updates to meet current regulations, codes, and standards. Typical project tasks include Code Reconciliations, Basis Documents, Program Plans, Relief Requests, NRC Submittals, Selection Documents, Schedules, Drawings, and Database development.

Program Database
GSE engineers are fluent in most existing ISI Database Platforms and have extensive experience creating and
maintaining databases necessary to run effective programs. These databases have been developed in various software platforms and can be tailored as needed or support data updates within current plant databases. Typical databases contain component details, inspection requirements, schedules, reporting, and historical records.

Classification Basis Documents
Develop a program baseline document to justify the systems and components that fall within the program scope and the bases for inclusion or exclusion. Provide component-level classifications, safety functions, and boundary justifications.

Risk-Informed Programs
Programs engineers who have been involved with developing risk-informed inspection technologies from the beginning. Develop and maintain RI-ISI and RI-BER in accordance with living program requirements, EPRI TRs, and ASME Code Cases N-578-1 and N-716-1.

Selection Documents and Schedules
Documenting the selection criteria and methodology as well as the actual inspection schedule necessary to assure
compliance with the applicable codes and standards is key to successful program implementation. Confirm inspection scope prorations and exam distributions as well as processes for additional and successive exams.

Program Drawing Development
GSE will create and modify program drawings in several CAD platforms. Applicable drawings are typically Color Coded Classification Boundary Drawings, ISI and Pressure Testing Isometric Drawings, Test Block Drawings, and Component Inspection Detail Drawings.

Program Plans and NRC Submittals
Establish regulatory requirements and station commitments driving individual programs, including the code of record, licensing commitments, relief requests, inspection intervals, code cases, technical approaches, and augmented examination requirements.
